IWD have relationships with both FSC and PEFC, to show our commitment to sustainable forestry, as promotional license holders with both these organisations. As well as providing assurance of sustainable practices, forest certification empowers consumers and companies to choose sustainably-sourced products, thereby allowing responsible forest owners to be rewarded.
We select suppliers who share the same commitment and values as IWD, particularly around their environmentally friendly approach to manufacturing. IWD’s flooring product is fully PEFC certified. In addition the company uses a genuine perpetual closed loop recycling method. They utilise various wood waste, timber offcuts, waste, pallets, crates, particleboard, plywood and reconstitute this back into particleboard. In any one month the amount of post consumer wood waste delivered to the factory can exceed 714 tonne.
IWD’s Garapa decking product comes from a forest that has FSC Controlled Wood Certification and the sawmill that machines the Garapa has full FSC Chain of Custody Certification. Chain of Custody Certification is how the FSC verifies that forest based materials produced according to their rigorous standards are credibly used along the product’s path from the forest to becoming finished goods. The FSC label on a finished product signals that the materials used during production have met the chain of custody requirements at every step in the supply chain, from sourcing to distribution.
